Abbey hours, last entry, and tickets
Centre des monuments nationaux seasonal hours:
- 1 May – 31 August: 9:00–19:00
- 1 September – 30 April: 9:30–18:00
- Closed: 1 January, 1 May, 25 December
- Last admission: typically one hour before closing
Adult tickets 2026–2027: ~€16 (1 Apr–30 Sep 2026); ~€13 (1 Oct 2026–31 Mar 2027). Book timed entry in peak season via official channels or ticket partner.
The village is free; the abbey is not
Grande Rue and ramparts: free, 24/7. Abbey interior: ticketed. Many visitors photograph from the bridge without entering—valid if the monument was not your goal.
Stairs, accessibility, luggage, pets
Expect ~350 steps. Site is difficult for reduced mobility; not stroller-friendly inside the abbey. Large bags restricted—use mainland CIT lockers (~€2). Pets not allowed in abbey (assistance dogs excepted).
When to go
Midday summer is the crush. Early morning and late afternoon kinder. Overnight guests see a different Mont. Tides transform photos; modern bridge access remains year-round. High tides may flood esplanade ~1 hour—no boat needed. Tide calendar · Visit Planner.
